Wild redwood clean up

Cleaning up the redwoods

On Thursday the 13th of December we did our SVA which stands for student volunteer army and we did a redwood clean up. On the day we walked from the Tauroa car park and walked to the redwoods and had to walk up a steep and slippery hill. The walk took a long time and it felt like we had walked a km.When we were there the safety officers did a speech about the hazards then it was the platoon leaders turn. Sienna and Zoe did their speech about how the day was going to go. Everyone started with doing their jobs and my job was to set up the food and then help with the cleaning. We did it to help the environment and save the nature. The redwoods had no rubbish which was good.

The best day of the holidays

In the holidays I went to Hamilton. At my aunties's place I went in to the freezing cold pool. In the the weekend where we caught a double Decker bus from the base to the zoo where they had a treasure hunt and at the end you got a white chocolate biscuit and a free ride back to the base. It was fun because I sat at the back on the top of the bus and I had a really good time.

Science with Trish

Science
Something that I learned with Trish on Tuesday was that all liquid has different density. It was interesting because you could layer different colored water because they had different density  and that was because it had more sugar.  I could teach Room 8 about the different density of liquid.

The science roadshow

Science roadshow

Yesterday room 4 went to Hasting intermediate and we went to the science roadshow.
I learned about how much carbon dioxide you breathe out and a normal kid should breathe  out about 1.5 liters.
I liked the uphill roller there was two bars, a coconut shape roller and a rolling pin. You put the rolling pin on the top of the bars and it would roll down then if you put a the coconut roller on the bottom and it would roll upwards.
My favorite part was in the fire and ice show were Anna-Sophie had a candle and lit it and dipped it in kerosene and then sprayed the candle and it was like a fuel but when she dipped a match in a container of kerosene it went out because fire needs three things to keep it going oxygen, fuel and gas.
